Although relatively short, this is an event with a serious climbing punch, with more than 3,000m of ascending. The first climb is the infamous San Gottardo. The pass is mainly cobbled hence its nickname Paris-Roubaix des Alpes. After a stunning descent, the Furka pass appears, a 17km climb with an average gradient of over six per cent which reaches 2,249m. The final climb is the Nufenen pass at 2,278m, the toughest of the lot. It is an event that requires endurance and skill; be prepared for cobbles and fast descents. 

We suggest getting a flight to Zurich airport and the train to Airolo. This is about a 2hour 30-minute journey with change depending on which train you get but is the most time efficient and relaxing way. From Airolo you will be picked up and taken to your accommodation. You can of course hire a car and make your own way to the Bed & Breakfast instead if you so wish.

Day 0 - Friday 17 July - Arrive Airolo
Transfer pick-up from Airolo train station which will take you to our base where you will bike able to unpack and prepare your bike. A team dinner and introductions followed by a briefing about the plan for the following day.

Day 1 - Saturday 18 July - Passo San Gottardo Climb
We will enjoy a gentle supported ride up the Passo San Gottardo to calm any nerves about cycling on the cobbles to take photos. The aim is to spin the legs and loosen things up for the challenge tomorrow. Lunch will be at the top of the climb next to the lake in a cafe.

In the afternoon we will visit the race village, pick up race numbers and sample the pre-race atmosphere. The rest of the afternoon will be free to relax and make final preparations for tomorrow.

A delicious team dinner in a local restaurant and a chat about final preparations before the race.

Day 2 - RACE DAY - Sunday 19 July - Granfondo San Gottardo
Distance: Long - 113.5km, Medium - 53km, Short - 42.5km
Elevation Gain: Long - 3,000m, Medium - 1,330m, Short - 930m
Major Climbs: Passo San Gottardo, Furka Pass, Nufenen Pass
An early breakfast to get everyone prepared for the race. We will then ride to the start line together (weather dependant) for a quick Swiss espresso Italian style. The Kudos team will be on hand to assist and for any last minute clothing changes.

A refreshing shower and perhaps a power nap await you back at the hotel, we will then reward our efforts of the day with some great food and drink in a local restaurant.

Depart Sunday afternoon or Monday 20 July
You will be transferred to Airolo train station for your journey home.
