ITINERARY

DAY 0: Arrive into Geneva airport

Arrive Geneva Airport and head towards the quaint and historical Roman city of Martigny. Once at the hotel our staff will greet you and assist with the assembly and setup of your bike before dining at a local restaurant as a group. We’ll carb up, and discuss the coming rides.

DAY 1: Classics of the Tour de Romandie and Tour de Suisse

Distance: 105km/65miles
Climbing: 2,000m/6,561ft
Major Climbs: Col de la Croix 24km, Avg. Gradient 6%, Max Gradient 10%

Departing from the old Roman town of Martigny we wind our way along the river Rhone. The roads are smooth, fast and quiet as we head towards Lake Geneva. After around 25km we arrive at Bex. We start the climb through the vineyards past the salt mines of Bex and climb up to the ski resort of Villars. A short recovery before the next part of the climb from Villars up the Col de la Croix.

Another chance to fill the water bottles at the top and take in the magnificent views of the imposing mountains.

A swift descent to Les Diablerets with a 28km of descent back down to the valley floor and back along the valley floor, following part of the UCI World Road Championship route to the hotel and dinner in Martigny.

DAY 2: Switzerland’s Hidden Gem

Distance: 120km/75miles
Climbing: 2,670m/8,759ft
Major Climbs: Col du Sanetsch, 26km, Avg. Gradient 6.7%, Max Gradient 14.5%, Elevation 1,770m (5,800 ft)

Regularly voted in the top 10 climbs in Switzerland, we tackle the ‘secret’ climb that is the Col du Sanetsch. This is a challenging ride with some of the most spectacular scenery Switzerland has to offer. With not much respite until you reach the top you will be frequently dipping into the red. Punchy, but very rewarding.

This climb has everything and tests your aerobic fitness levels. The descent includes technical sections perfect for honing those descending skills.

DAY 3: Following in the wheels of your cycling heroes

Distance: 65km/40miles
Climbing: 2,650m/8,694ft
Major Climbs: Col de la Forclaz 13km, Avg. Gradient 7.9% Col de la Gueulaz (Finhaut - Emosson Dam) 10.4km, Avg. Gradient 8.4%

Today we climb the route of the 2016 Tour de France up to the Emosson Dam. The first climb is the Col de la Forclaz, with stunning views towards the Valais Valley. You’re then treated to a short descent before the steep climb up to the Emosson dam, the famous finish for Stage 17 of the Tour de France 2016, won by llnur Zakarin in 35 degree heat. You can still see the road graffiti from adorning fans for their cycling heroes and local Swiss cycling legends like Steve Morabito.

The imposing Mont Blanc mountain in the distance with the ski resort of Chamonix should distract you from harsh gradients. A well deserved rest at the top of the climb and for anyone that fancies more punishment there is an additional secret climb up to the next dam where serious Kudos will be earned!

A steady descent will take us back the way we came, up and over the Col de la Forclaz and it’s a fast descent back to Martigny.

Upon returning to the hotel, break down the bikes and depart late afternoon for the airport.
